Shower and glass care guide

Caring for your shower screen is important to keep it looking great and functioning properly. Here are some quick tips for maintaining your shower screen:

• Clean regularly
  Clean your shower screen regularly with a microfibre cloth or sponge and a non-abrasive cleaner, such as dish soap, vinegar, methylated spirits or a reputable branded glass cleaner. Make sure chemicals aren't left sitting and rinse them thoroughly.

• Squeegee
  The best method to keep your glass clean is to use a squeegee after each shower to remove excess water and prevent water spots.

• Harsh chemicals/lubricants
  Avoid using harsh chemicals like bleach or ammonia, as they can damage the finish of your shower screen and cause corrosion to the frame or hardware. Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners. Never use lubricants on your shower screen, many fully frameless hardware systems rely on clamp fittings and using lubricants can dissolve rubber gaskets or cause glass slippage.

• Dry thoroughly
  After cleaning your shower screen, be sure to dry it thoroughly with a soft, dry cloth to prevent water spots.

• Aluminium Frames
  Although an aluminium shower frame is resistant to rust, it can still suffer from corrosion and pitting caused by acidic cleaners. Regular cleaning can prevent the accumulation of deposits and soap scum on aluminium shower frames. For tackling stubborn buildup, a magic eraser (melamine sponge) can be effective, but remember that it's a mild abrasive. While vinegar is generally safe for use on aluminium, allowing it to sit can accelerate corrosion.

• Ventilation
  Adequate ventilation is crucial to prevent mould growth in the shower area. Without proper ventilation, the moist environment created after showering becomes an ideal breeding ground for mould. By ensuring proper air circulation, you can effectively deter mould growth and maintain a clean and healthy shower space.
